Turns tummy time into playtime

You watch your baby lose interest in tummy time within minutes, rolling away from every toy you put down.

Flat, silent toys give little ones no reason to reach, stretch, or stay on their belly for longer.

This caterpillar toy lights up and plays a cheerful saxophone tune the moment your baby reaches out, giving them a reason to keep going.

Three toys built into one

Buying a separate light-up toy, a musical toy and something that moves means more boxes, more batteries and more clutter on the floor.

Each separate gadget only holds attention for a moment before your baby moves on to the next shiny thing.

This one caterpillar combines colourful lights, a saxophone melody and a gentle spinning base, so there is no need for three different toys.

Playtime that runs itself

Keeping a little one entertained while you make dinner or answer the door can feel like a constant juggling act.

Switching toys on and off, replacing batteries or resetting a fussy mechanism eats into the little time you have spare.

A simple tap of the base starts the lights, music and spinning motion, so your little one can play happily while you get on.

Materials, care & sizing

Materials
· Sturdy plastic body with a soft matte finish, built to withstand grabbing, chewing and being dropped on the floor.
· Bright colour-changing LED lights built into the body and spinning base.
· A small electronic sound module powers the saxophone melodies.

Sizing
· Stands around 25cm tall with a 14cm x 14cm base, a comfortable size for a baby to reach while sitting or on their tummy.
· Lightweight enough to move room to room, but weighted at the base for stability.

Care
· Wipe clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth; do not submerge in water.
· Keep away from soaking or washing machines because of the electronic components.
· Remove the batteries if it will not be used for a long period.

What age is it suitable for?

It is designed for babies in the crawling and tummy-time stage, once they are reaching out and batting at toys, right through to early walking age.

Does it need batteries?

Yes, it runs on replaceable batteries housed in the base, so there is no cord to trail across the floor and no charging to remember.

Is it sturdy enough for little hands?

The body is made from robust, rounded plastic with no sharp edges or pinch points, so it holds up well to grabbing, patting and the odd drop.

Does it move around the room on its own?

No, it spins and dances on the spot from its weighted base rather than travelling across the floor, so it stays within easy reach during play.

A little wobbly on soft carpet

On our thicker rug it tips over fairly easily when it spins, though it's fine on the hard floor in the kitchen. Minor gripe really, my son still finds it funny whichever way up it ends up.

Wish the volume could be adjusted

Everything else about it is great but there's no way to turn the music down, only on or off, which isn't ideal for nap time nearby. Still gets plenty of use in our house despite that.

Took a few days to win her over

My little one was actually a bit startled by the lights and music to begin with and needed a few sessions to warm up to it. Now she loves it, but worth knowing it might not be an instant hit for every baby.

Great toy, just quite repetitive

My daughter loves it but the tune is the same every time it's triggered, so after a few weeks it does get a bit repetitive for the adults in the room. Still a firm favourite of hers though, so no regrets buying it.

Brilliant for independent play

Since my son learned he can tap the base himself he will happily sit and play with this alone for a while, which gives me a chance to get a few jobs done. Genuinely one of his favourite toys right now.

Travels well in the changing bag

Light enough to chuck in the bottom of the changing bag for trips to my mum's without weighing it down too much. Hasn't come to any harm being knocked about in there either.

Not too loud, which is a win

A lot of musical toys end up banned from the living room because of the volume but this one is at a sensible level. Still catchy enough that my daughter dances along to it in her own wobbly way.

Good distance for crawling practice

We place it a little out of reach on the carpet and our son will crawl the length of the living room to get to it once the music starts. Genuinely useful for encouraging him to move more.

Handles being chewed on fine

My 10 month old chews on absolutely everything and the antennae and arms have taken a fair amount of gumming without any damage. The plastic feels sturdy rather than flimsy.

Grandparents' house favourite

We keep one at our place and one at Grandma's so there's no fuss about bringing toys back and forth. Both of our little one's grandparents say it's the first thing she goes for when she visits.

Still going strong after months

We've had this since the summer and it still works exactly as well as day one. Lights are still bright, the tune hasn't glitched once, and it has been dropped more times than I can count.

Nice size for little hands

At about 25cm tall it's a good size, not too small to lose and not too big to be awkward in a cot or playpen. My little one can hold the antennae without any trouble.

Encourages her to move around

Our physio suggested toys that encourage reaching and shuffling for our 9 month old and this has been brilliant for that. She will shuffle right across the rug to get to it when the lights start flashing.

Easy to clean and no assembly

Arrived ready to go, just needed the battery cover opened which took seconds. Wipes clean easily with a damp cloth, which matters a lot with a baby who dribbles on everything within reach.

Our twins fight over it

Had to order a second one because our twins kept squabbling over whose turn it was. Both of them at 14 months find the dancing motion really funny and shriek with laughter whenever it starts up.

Good value for what you get

Compared this to a few similar toys before buying and this one came in cheaper but doesn't feel any less well made. Three functions in one with the lights, music and the spinning base, so it feels like good value.

Lovely bright colours

The green and pink colourway is lovely and cheerful, looks great sitting on the playroom shelf even when it's not switched on. My little one is drawn to it every time we walk into the room.

Takes the pressure off at dinner time

We pop this down in front of our toddler while we're finishing up cooking and it buys us a good ten minutes of peace. The tap to start feature means he can set it going himself now, which he's very proud of.

Perfect for grabbing and batting at

My daughter is 7 months and loves anything with lights. She can't quite reach the antennae yet but she bats at the base and sets it off constantly. Easy to wipe clean after sticky hands have been all over it.

Second one we've bought

Our eldest had one of these two years ago and loved it so much we bought a second for our youngest. Still just as charming, still well made, and the saxophone noise is somehow less annoying than other musical toys we've tried.

Sturdier than it looks

Wasn't sure how well a plastic toy like this would hold up with my very boisterous 1 year old, but it's taken a fair few knocks off the coffee table edge and still works perfectly. The spinning base means it rights itself most of the time too.

Bought as a gift, went down a treat

Got this for my sister's little one's first birthday and she messaged me the same evening to say he wouldn't stop giggling at it. The colours are really vivid and the music isn't too shrill, which I appreciated as an auntie who has to sit through it too.

Great for tummy time motivation

Our son was never keen on tummy time until this came along. Now he pushes himself forward trying to reach the caterpillar when the lights come on. Batteries were included which was a nice surprise, and it has survived plenty of drops already.

Keeps our crawler entertained for ages

Bought this for my 8 month old and she is obsessed with the lights and the little saxophone tune. It genuinely gets her reaching and shuffling forward on her tummy to grab it. The base spins round slowly which she finds hilarious every single time.
