Calm nerves at every doorway

You hear the door creak open down the hall and your stomach drops before you have even stood up.

A curious toddler can reach almost any lever handle these days, turning a quiet nap time into a scramble to the stairs.

This slide-on lock sits above a child's reach and holds the door shut the moment you let go of the handle.

No more drilling or sticky mess

Fitting a proper door lock usually means a drill, screws, and a trip to the hardware shop first.

Adhesive strips peel paint off doorframes and cheap clip-on guards rattle loose within a week of daily use.

This lock simply slides over the door edge in seconds, with no tools, no drilling, and no sticky residue left behind.

Open it yourself in a flash

Fumbling with a stiff child lock while your hands are full is nobody's idea of a good evening.

Locks that only open from one side leave you stuck outside the room you actually need to get into.

This one releases from either side with a simple push or pull, so any adult can open it instantly.

Materials, care & sizing

Materials
· Durable moulded plastic housing with a spring-loaded latch mechanism
· Smooth, rounded edges designed for everyday family use

Sizing
· Fits standard interior door edges roughly 3.5cm (1⅝") thick
· Suitable for doors of any height, position it wherever suits your family

Care
· Wipe clean with a damp cloth, no harsh chemicals needed
· No batteries or maintenance required, just an occasional wipe-down

Will it work on every door in my home?

It's designed for standard interior doors only, so it will not fit exterior doors, sliding doors, or ones with an unusually deep edge. Measure your door's thickness before fitting to make sure it is a snug fit.

Can my child learn to open it?

The release sits above typical toddler reach and needs a deliberate push-and-slide action that is tricky for small hands to copy. It gives you peace of mind without needing to watch the door constantly.

Does it leave any marks or residue on the door?

No, it simply slides over the door edge and grips in place, so there's no adhesive, no screws, and no paint damage when you remove it.

Can I temporarily disable it without taking it off?

Yes, a small switch lets you disable the latch when you don't need it, so the door opens normally, then you can re-enable it in a second whenever you want it locked again.

Fine once fitted, instructions could be clearer

The lock itself works fine once it's on the door, but it took us a few attempts to get the fitting right as the included guidance was a bit brief. Had to measure the door edge twice before it sat properly. Does the job now but the setup wasn't as quick as I'd hoped.

Solid lock, colour shows marks a bit

Works exactly as described and our two year old can't shift it, which is the main thing. The white plastic does pick up a few scuff marks after daily use though, nothing a wipe doesn't sort but worth knowing. Good value overall.

Great lock, wish it came with a spare latch

Does the job really well on our daughter's door and installation was dead easy. Only gripe is there's no spare part included if the latch mechanism ever wears out, so we're being a bit careful with it. Otherwise no complaints after six weeks of use.

Took our toddler a little while to be fully contained

Our son is quite determined and found a way to wobble the door slightly for the first week, though he's never actually got it open. Seems to have settled in properly now and holds firm. Good product once it beds in a bit.

Good lock but fiddly on thick doors

Works well on our internal doors but one of ours is a bit thicker than standard and it's a tighter fit than I'd like. Still holds firm once it's on, just takes a bit more effort to slide into place. Would recommend measuring carefully first.

Does what cheaper ones couldn't

Tried a couple of cheaper child locks before this that our son worked out within a week. This one has lasted over two months now without him getting anywhere near opening it. Fits snugly and doesn't rattle around like the others did.

Sorted the office door problem

My daughter kept wandering into my home office during calls and switching things off at my desk. This has kept her out completely while still letting me nip in and out one handed with a coffee in the other. Took thirty seconds to fit.

Simple design that just works

Nothing complicated about it, which is exactly why I like it. No batteries, no fiddly parts, just slides over the door and locks firmly. My partner and I can both open it easily from either side without thinking about it.

Exactly what we needed before baby arrived

Fitted these to a few doors before our second was born, knowing our eldest would start pushing boundaries once the new baby took up our attention. Glad we did as he's already tried the kitchen door a few times. Hasn't managed to shift it once.

Good value for how well it works

Expected something flimsier for the price but it's actually a solid bit of plastic that doesn't feel cheap. Fitted our home office door so our 2 year old can't get at the printer and cables. Three months in and still going strong.

Better than the pressure mounted gate

We had a pressure gate before this which our daughter learned to climb over by 20 months. This is a different story entirely as she genuinely cannot reach it to even try. Much less obtrusive than a gate too, barely notice it's there.

Ideal for visiting family with a toddler

Took this with us to stay at my sister's over Christmas since her house isn't toddler proofed. Fitted it to the spare room door in seconds and it travelled well in the suitcase without any bits falling off. Already ordered a second one for home.

No more pinched fingers

Our youngest kept getting his fingers near the door hinge trying to follow his big sister around. This keeps the door firmly shut so he can't get anywhere near it now. Really simple to fit and takes seconds to remove when we need to.

Works brilliantly on both our doors

Ordered the pack so we'd have one for the nursery and one spare for when we move the cot room around. Both fitted within minutes on doors of slightly different thickness. My partner can open it one handed from either side, which is handy carrying the baby.

Perfect for the cupboard under the stairs

We use this on the understairs cupboard where the hoover and cleaning stuff lives. Our son used to get in there constantly and now he can't shift it at all. Quick to fit and looks neater than the bulky gate we had before.

Sturdier than it looks in photos

Was a bit unsure before buying but it's actually really solid once it's on the door. My 3 year old has tried pulling and pushing on it plenty and it hasn't budged. Easy for me to open one handed while carrying the baby too.

Great for a rented flat

Couldn't drill into the doors as we're renting, so this was exactly what we needed. No marks on the frame and it comes off cleanly whenever we need to remove it for visitors. Our little one hasn't managed to crack the trick yet.

Does the job without any fuss

No drilling, no sticky residue, just slides on and locks. We needed something quick before my mother in law visited with her very curious grandson and this sorted it within minutes. Would buy again for other doors in the house.

Bought a second one for the bathroom

Got one for the bedroom first and liked it so much I ordered another for the bathroom door. Our daughter is a determined 18 month old and this is the first lock that's actually kept her out. Feels sturdy, not flimsy like some we've tried.

Easy fit on an older door

Our doors are a bit of an odd thickness being an older house, but this still gripped on firmly once we checked the measurement first. Took seconds to fit and my husband could open it from the other side without any instructions, which says a lot.

Finally stopped the 5am door escapes

Our toddler was getting up and opening his bedroom door at silly o'clock every morning. This has stopped that completely and he still opens it fine himself when we take it off at a reasonable hour. The release switch is a nice touch.

Grandparents' house sorted

We bought two of these for my parents' house so our twins can't wander into the stairs cupboard when we visit. Slides straight onto the door edge with no marks left behind. My dad was sceptical but even he admits it works a treat.

Simple and it actually works

Bought this after our daughter worked out how to turn the door handle. It sits just above her reach and she can't budge it, even standing on her tiptoes. So much easier than the adhesive ones we tried before that kept falling off.

Peace of mind on the nursery door

Fitted this to my son's bedroom door in under a minute, no tools needed at all. He's two and a half and hasn't managed to get it open once, even after a month of trying. Does exactly what it says and looks tidy on the white door frame too.
