What does it do?

It drives by itself, does 360 degree turns and glows from inside while the cogs behind the see-through body spin round. It all starts with a switch that a small child quickly finds.
Does it need batteries?

Yes, 3 AA batteries, and they aren't included. Buy them in advance if the car is being wrapped. It's no fun opening a present that can't be used the same day.
Which surface does it run best on?

A level surface: wooden floor, laminate or tiles. On a deep-pile carpet it can't turn properly, and the turns are exactly what makes it fun.
What age is it for?

The maker says 1-5 years. The youngest are most taken with the light and with following the car, while older children start it themselves and build tracks around it from whatever they already have.
