What does it do?

The carousel inside spins round, music plays, and coloured spots of light are projected onto the ceiling and walls. The three functions are controlled with the buttons on top and can be used separately or together.
Can my child work it themselves?

Yes. The buttons sit on the roof as large, coloured panels that only need a press with a whole hand. That's what lets a child of about one start the play themselves.
Does it need batteries?

Yes, 3 AAA batteries, and they aren't included. Buy them in advance if the toy is being wrapped, and always check the battery compartment is fully screwed shut.
Can it be used as a night light?

The projection works as a dimmed light in a dark room, and many people use it while their child falls asleep. The maker doesn't state a timer or a playing time, so expect to switch it off once your child is asleep.
